Olivia Burton (23) moves to California with her boyfriend, Francis Morales (24), against the wishes of their family. Francis’s mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who does not support her son’s relationship, expressing her feelings in the form of violent, religious-themed postcards. Despite their objections, the young lovers settle into their exciting new life together. However, their happiness is cut short when a freak accident leaves Francis physically and mentally injured. He soon begins to suffer from night terrors – whispering to Olivia’s invisible figure in his dreams and walking around strange corners of the house in his sleep. These episodes frighten Olivia, and she also thinks that Francis is hiding something from her. Her investigation leads to a terrifying and perverse discovery; they are haunted by the ghost of Francis’ childhood youth pastor – a being who has been angered by their relationship and who has come to punish them for their sins.
